The ongoing COVID-19 crisis has resulted in most Magnum photographers being restricted in their movements.

As part of a broader photographer-led response, a new series, Quarantine Conversations, will see Magnum photographers in frank and unedited dialogues about work, current affairs, and everything in-between. The pairings for these conversations will be made by lottery, and this latest installment sees Alessandra Sanguinetti directs three key questions to Jonas Bendiksen. Alessandra talks with Jonas about his path to Magnum, challenging projects and how curiosity leads to new work.

This video series forms part of a broader, photographer-led initiative to document the crisis. You can keep abreast of this new work on Magnum Photos’ Instagram in the form of both Instagram Stories takeovers and daily image updates. Regular curations of these new images, made by project lead Peter van Agtmael feature in our series, Diary of a Pandemic. See the latest chapter here.
