Errand and Epiphany brings together 78 photographs by Alex Webb, a pioneer in the second generation of color photographers. Known for his complex compositions and vibrant palettes, Webb transforms the visual language of street photography into an emotionally resonant and multilayered narrative form, where light, color, and chance converge in striking harmony.
The exhibition’s title is inspired by a line from writer Rebecca Solnit: “The magic of the street is the union between mission and epiphany.” For Webb, the mission is his pursuit of fleeting moments—fragments of untold stories from people living in distant and often overlooked corners of the world. The epiphany comes in the instant where the mundane gives way to revelation, when everyday life, seen through his lens, pulses with unexpected beauty and meaning.
In Errand and Epiphany, viewers are invited into Webb’s unique photographic world—a place of vibrant contradiction, radiant color, and layered complexity. Whether documenting life on the streets of Port-au-Prince, Havana, Istanbul, or the US-Mexico border, Webb captures scenes that feel both intimate and immense, saturated with meaning and yet open to interpretation.
