One of the most vibrant moments of the year in photography returns from November 12-15, when galleries, artists, publishers, institutions and collectors from around the world converge at the Grand Palais in Paris.

This year, Paris Photo coincides with a historic landmark in the medium’s history: the bicentennial of the invention of photography.

At Booth CO2, Magnum Gallery has curated a new selection of 41 fine prints spanning decades of photography, including Phillippe Halsman’s 1950s Jump, Harry Gruyaert’s vision of Europe and beyond in the 1980s, and Gregory Halpern’s “Archive of the Unknown” project from his exhibition at the 7L Library last year.

Also on display will be a selection of prints from Chris Killip’s In Flagrante, exploring the downfall of industrialization in the north of England in the 1970s and 80s. The feature comes just two months after Killip’s latest publication North, edited by Mark Holborn, was published by Thames & Hudson.

Two rare lifetime prints are featured in the curation, from Susan Meiselas’s series Carnival Strippers as well as from Dennis Stock’s 1968 image of Venice Beach Rock Festival.

That same year Stock recorded the dynamism of American counter culture, Paul Fusco documented Robert Kennedy’s funeral train as it made its way from New York to Washington D.C., and the mournful crowds that lined the tracks to pay tribute.

Significant captures from the archive by photographers such as Herbert List and Eve Arnold come together with some of the agency’s acclaimed projects in recent years, including from Myriam Boulos and Zied Ben Romdhane.

In paralell with Paris Photo, Magnum will also be present at Polycopies Book Fair, with a large selection of photobooks, including new publications from Chris Killip, Carolyn Drake, Bieke Depoorter, Ferdinando Scianna, and Susan Meiselas, as well as a collection of old, rare, and limited-edition releases dating back to the early years of the Magnum archive.

Meiselas, Drake, and Depoorter will be there in person for book signings on Thursday, November 12, as well as Antoine d’Agata on Friday, November 13.
