Marcus Gustafsson (b. 1990) is a photographer and artist based in Stockholm. His work is deeply autobiographical and is centered around memory, intimacy, and identity. Through long-term projects, he explores these themes, often in relation to his own family, upbringing, and places of personal significance. His practice is grounded in recurring processes—returning to images, places,
and emotions that reflect the layered and non-linear nature of memory.
Gustafsson primarily works with analogue photographic methods, creating photographic series. He incorporates techniques such as painting, drawing, and tape to manipulate the images. His projects are often accompanied by his own texts, similar to that of small notes from his notebooks.
Gustafsson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Photojournalism from Mid Sweden University (2013). He has exhibited in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Athens, and at the Hasselblad Center in Gothenburg.
