Join Salih Basheer for a 5-day workshop as part of our Inside>>Out program.
This five-day workshop with Magnum photographer and artist Salih Basheer is designed for participants who are already working on a photographic project or body of work, but feel stuck in the process, uncertain about its direction, or unsure how to bring it to completion.
Rather than starting a new project, the workshop creates a focused space to look closely at the work participants have already made, question their intentions, and explore possible ways forward.
The workshop begins with each participant presenting their work to the group. Through a combination of one-to-one reviews, group discussions, feedback sessions, and independent working time, participants will have the opportunity to reconsider their projects from different perspectives and identify what may be holding them back.
Throughout the week, Salih will work closely with participants to help them develop their individual approaches. When a project requires a more specific push, he may propose individual assignments or exercises designed to open up new possibilities, challenge existing ways of working, or help participants move beyond a creative block.
The workshop will also encourage participants to step outside photography and experiment with different forms of expression. Writing, drawing, collage and other materials will be available in the room, allowing participants to test ideas, make connections and think about their work in new ways. These experiments may become part of the projects themselves, or simply serve as tools for reflection and discovery.
The workshop is structured around a balance of looking, discussing, reflecting and making. Participants will have time to concentrate on their own projects while also learning from the questions, approaches and processes of the other participants.
By the end of the five days, participants will have a clearer understanding of their work, a stronger sense of possible directions, and practical tools for continuing to develop and complete their projects beyond the workshop.

Inside>>Out workshops are open to photographers with a solid understanding of the medium, some experience working on stories rather than single images, and a keen interest in expanding their knowledge of photographic theory and practice during a fast-paced week.
