For two years, 1978-1980, Abbas covered the Iranian revolution and its aftermath. His resultant book, his first publication, la révolution confisquée, charted the dramatic events that led to the return of the Ayatollah Khomeini after 15 years in exile and to the fall of the Shah’s regime on February 11th 1979. The book was banned from Iran.
