Sergio Larrain (1931–2012) was a singular figure in twentieth-century photography. A member of Magnum Photos, he developed a deeply personal body of work shaped by a free, poetic and enigmatic approach to street photography. Through shadows, reflections and unconventional framing, Larrain transformed everyday scenes into images of strong visual and emotional intensity, where human presence and urban solitude occupy a central place.
The exhibition, produced by Magnum Photos and organized in collaboration with the Biennal de Fotografia Xavier Miserachs, is curated by Agnès Sire, Director of the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation from 2003 to 2022. The project unfolds in two complementary stages, an initial presentation at Foto Colectania in Barcelona, followed by a retrospective that will continue from August onwards in Palafrugell, as part of the Biennal de Fotografia Xavier Miserachs.
