Description

Hommage commemorates one of the great women photographers of the 20th century, Eve Arnold. The first woman to become a full member of Magnum Photos agency in 1957 (after joining in 1951), Arnold is known for capturing the lives and struggles of the 20th century with clarity and compassion.

The career survey honors Arnold’s famous photo series such as New York by Night, Fashion Shows in Harlem, A Baby’s Momentous First Five Minutes, Haiti Voodoo, and Malcolm X, as well as her travel photographs from Afghanistan (from the late 60s), China and India (circa 1980), and her legendary portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Isabella Rossellini, Clark Gable, Peter O’Toole, and Anthony Quinn.
