Picturing Place was a 5 week online workshop delivered by Mark Power in October and November 2021. The concept of the course was formulated in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and Mark’s approach to image-making, where he forges a personal connection with the space he is shooting. Participants were asked to create a project around a place they had a preexisting connection to. Every week the photographers would shoot images, which were critiqued by Mark and their peers on Zoom. This invaluable feedback, alongside insightful lectures by Mark, gave the impetus and direction to make new, more informed work each week. This showcase presents the wonderfully impressive series and images that were produced by the photographers by the end of the workshop.
