Parisa Aminolahi (Tehran, Iran) is a Netherlands-based freelance filmmaker and photographer. She studied Theatre Stage Design (BA) and Animation (MA) at the University of Art in Tehran, and Documentary Filmmaking (MA) at Royal Holloway, University of London.
Her work engages with themes of displacement, exile, homeland, family, and childhood memory. She often works with family photographs, self-portraits, and her own family members, using photography, documentary film, animation, painting, and mixed media.
She has received support from the Firecracker Photographic Grant, the Netherlands Film Fund, GUP New Dutch Photography Talent of the Year Award, and the One World Media Student Film Bursary. Her dummy book Tehran Diary was shortlisted for the MACK First Book Award, the BUP Book Award, and the PHmuseum Women Photographers Grant and was nominated by FOTODOK for Futures Talent 2025. Her work has been exhibited and screened locally and internationally, including at IDFA, Thessaloniki Film Festival, Unseen, and Art Rotterdam.
