Description

Delve into the humorous and uncanny moments photography can reveal alongside Magnum photographer Sabiha Çimen.

Photography is often seen as factual, but it can also be playful, unexpected, and deeply personal. “It’s about transforming your emotions, adding something unique from your own soul,” says Sabiha Çimen.

In this workshop, you will explore how humor and the uncanny can open unexpected paths to storytelling. By shifting perspectives and embracing surprise, you’ll learn to create deeper, more nuanced images while questioning and deconstructing preconceived ideas about a place, subject, or theme.

Through daily practice, discussions, and group reviews, Sabiha will guide you in experimenting with irony, curiosity, and imagination, helping you discover how emotional depth and visual playfulness can coexist in your photographic work. Sabiha will encourage you to push your work beyond the conventional, blending reality with fantasy and reinvention.

Learn how to use photography as a healing tool, break traditional boundaries and creatively combine elements of documentary and conceptual photography in your work.

“My aim with this workshop is to crystalize the reasons behind your creative choices and to troubleshoot any obstacles that hinder your progress.”  – Sabiha Çimen
