The fee includes the workshop fee. It does not cover accommodation, travel to the workshop location, and meals.
The application process is operating on a first come first serve basis and participants can be accepted right up until the start of the workshop, depending on availability.
We welcome participants at the start of their career and those that already have a clearer idea of their styles and visions.
You will receive a welcome pack before starting the workshop to help you prepare at best. A workshop coordinator will be on the ground helping deliver the workshop, making sure everything runs smoothly and answering any questions you may have. We know that joining a workshop can be a little intimidating and we do everything to create a safe and welcoming atmosphere in all our workshops.
We usually recommend participants to wait for the workshop to reach the minimum number of participants before booking their trips. As soon as the workshop is confirmed, we will send out an email meaning you can book your trip.
As soon as we reach the minimum number of participants we will notify everyone — leaving as much time as possible for you to book transport and accommodation if needed. If you sign up after the minimum number of participants has been reached we will let you know that the workshop is confirmed.
You can always find the schedule on the right hand-side of the page, as well as in the welcome pack. Please note that all timings are subjected to change.
-Full fees must be paid before the start of the workshop.
-Magnum Photos reserves the right to cancel groups if we do not meet the minimum number of participants. Students will be given a full refund. In the event of cancellation, students will be given at least 3 weeks advance notice.
-Magnum Photos reserves the right to change or alter the program advertised.
-Cancellations: Magnum will reimburse all the registration costs except for a 10% of the costs for administrative fee, if you inform us of cancellation at least 90 days before the first day of the Workshop. Beyond this time limit, we will charge the following: 50% of the cost if canceled between 89 and 60 days before the Workshop commences. 100% of the cost if canceled less than 59 days before the Workshop commences.

At the core of our workshop is the idea of community and creating a space for like-minded people who share a common interest in photography. You will be able to get into contact with your fellow participants through a Whatsapp group which will be created by the workshop coordinator ahead of its start.

As part of our Terms and conditions, everyone taking a workshop is required to have insurance for the duration of the program.
If you wish to offer one of our workshops to a loved one, you can get in touch with the Magnum Learn team at education@magnumphotos.com and they will assist you with the next steps including payment options and gift cards.
All participants receive at the end a workshop a certificate that can be used to apply for scholarships and fundings.
We recommend that you arrive at the latest on Sunday, May 5th and leave at the earliest on Friday, May 10th in the evening.

Bruce Gilden, Magnum Photographer
Bruce Gilden is one of the most iconic street photographers of our time. Known for his graphic and often confrontational close-ups made using flash, his images have a degree of intimacy and directness that have become a signature in his work. Though he cut his teeth on the sidewalks of New York City where he grew up, he has since made significant bodies of work in Haiti, Japan, Moscow, France, Ireland and India. “I’m known for taking pictures very close,” says Gilden of his practice. “And the older I get, the closer I get.” Gilden lives in Beacon, New York. He joined Magnum Photos in 1998.
