Near the grave of Able Seaman Richard Morgan, Kilgwrrwg, Wales. Morgan died on Armistice Day while serving on the destroyer HMS Garland but he met his end in an accidental drowning. The last soldie
r to be killed in action on 11 November 1914 - when there were an estimated 11,000 casualties - is thought to be Sergeant Henry Gunther, a US serviecman of German descent. He was shot while trying to charge a German machine-gun post - the German troops tried to wave him away - at 10:59. Unaware of the Armistice, German forces in East Africa continued fighting for a further two days. Kilgwrrwg, Wales, UK. 2018/02.
