“When you get close, ph
(...) ysically close, you cross a safety barrier that allows the photographed person to object to your presence or your photographing him. A lesson I learned a very long time ago as a 19-year-old, when Formula One driver Denny Hulme punched me in the face because he was concentrating before a race and my lens was 30 centimeters from his helmet. Luckily others don't really care, or are too busy climbing a slippery pole during a festival. There is no rule; it is all about feeling where the boundary lies. When you get really close, you get the grunts and the smell as a bonus.”
