Description

This exhibition traces the main stages of Robert Capa’s career through 366 photographs selected from the Magnum Photos archive, highlighting several iconic works that embody the history of photography in the twentieth century. However, it is not conceived only as a retrospective of Capa’s work, but rather aims to reveal through these images the many faces and layers of a passionate, insatiable, and ultimately elusive character, who did not hesitate to risk his life for his pictures. Capa was always a free agent, but had the temperament of a gambler. In making pictures, he tried to understand and revolve around the subject, both literally and figuratively. The exhibition brings together several points of view of the same event on different occasions — as if to reproduce his movements step-by-step — returning a cinematic breadth often perceptible in many sequences.
