Magnum Photos is happy to organise our third Magnum Learn Open Day with our partner Spéos School for Photography for anyone who may be considering joining the Creative Documentary and Photojournalism course in Paris.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Magnum photographer Nanna Heitmann about her work.  

Magnum Learn and Spéos staff will be present to answer questions about the course. 

This free event will be delivered as a Zoom webinar between 15:00 – 16:00 CEST / 9:00 – 10:00 EDT / 21:00 – 22:00 HKT on Wednesday 21 April 2021. You will be able to ask questions of the team and Nanna.

Shannon Ghannam, Global Education Director, Magnum Photos

Biographies

Nanna Heitmann is a German/ Russian documentary photographer, based between Russia and Germany. Her work has been published by TIME Magazine, M Le Magazine du Monde, De Volkskrant, Stern Magazine, and die Zeit, and she has worked on assignments for outlets including The New York Times, TIME Magazine, The Washington Post and Stern Magazine. She has received awards and accolades that include the Vogue Italia Prize at the PH Museum women photographers grant, World Report Award, and was shortlisted by the Gomma Grant and LensCulture emerging talents. Nanna Heitmann joined Magnum as a nominee in 2019.

Shannon Ghannam is the Global Education Director at Magnum Photos, responsible for the celebrated agency’s educational programming globally, including the recently launched online learning platform Magnum Learn learn.magnumphotos.com. Shannon sits on the Senior Management team at Magnum and is also responsible for Learning and Development within the organisation. Previously she managed Content Strategy and Development at Reuters, working to showcase on multiple platforms the agency’s multimedia content. Shannon has collaborated on numerous photographic books, international exhibitions and multimedia projects including the Emmy award winning photojournalism app Reuters The Wider Image. Shannon has worked in various roles during a 20 year career including Screen Labs, Night Contact photography and multimedia festival, Australian Associated Press (AAP), The Australian Photojournalist Journal, The National Archives of Australia as well as developing a year long collaborative portraiture project with refugee communities for the Australian Red Cross. She studied at the Queensland College of Art in Brisbane, Australia where she graduated with First Class Honours in Photography.

Sonia Jeunet is the Education Manager at Magnum Photos where she oversees the organisation of photography workshops. Since joining Magnum in May 2018, she has produced more than 15 workshops in the UK and abroad. She has worked with leading industry professionals and institutions and has engaged with more than 300 emerging photographers. Together with Johanna Lacey at Create Jobs, she has designed and successfully delivered the Creativity Works course for the past two years. Sonia has more than 12 years’ experience working in the photography industry. Prior to Magnum, she worked as photo editor and creative producer for Panos Pictures (London) and NOOR (Amsterdam).
