Elliott Erwitt was born in Paris to Russian parents. Despite moving to the US at a young age, where he would discover and develop his passion for photography, Erwitt has often returned to France to take pictures, producing some of his most familiar work there. With a keen eye for the ‘real’ France, Erwitt photographs the country with a humanistic flair. Alternating intimate details with grand vistas, he succeeds in capturing the true spirit of France, from its illustrious architecture to its eclectic mix of inhabitants. Pictured here, a father and son ride a bicycle along a picturesque avenue of trees in Provence.
