For over half a century, Bruno Barbey travelled all over the world, finding his voice both as an artist and an explorer. He covered conflicts in Nigeria, Vietnam, the Middle East, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Northern Ireland, Kuwait and Iraq, motivated by the belief that “photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world”. Becoming a member of Magnum at the age of just 25, Barbey’s work is testament to 55 years of history, reflecting his sensibility and insatiable thirst for the unknown.
