“My journey in Africa began almost 40 years ago and, like most of the important paths we take, was unintended. But Africa soon became an
(...) obsession, a place of endless fascination, where I would return again and again.
Despite the waves of disaster that have defined Africa to the rest of the world, this photograph of a group of schoolchildren enjoying a sudden burst of rain is at the heart of Africa for me. It is about optimism, joy and the future.”
