"This photograph marks a turning point in two senses. First, this view across a small lake in Norway is from a log cabin that I bought in 2009. It was, and is (as I
(...) write), a retreat into nature. Second, when I hauled my 8x10 camera to the shoreline, I knew that I would rotate the negative 90 degrees in order to turn upright the figure I had been watching take shape after snow fell on the hills across the ice.”
