Magnum Photographer Paolo Pellegrin will be in conversation with Christian Brändle, Director of the Museum of Design in Zurich, where they will explore how Pellegrin balances his varied photographic work.

Pellegrin is perhaps best known for his work in conflict zones and his interest in the human condition. More recently, the photographer has been actively engaged in documenting the alarming condition of our planet and the environment, including new work shot from above in Antartica.

The photographer is also skilled in using his authentic visual approach to transform creative briefs. During this discussion Brändle and Pellegrin will discuss commissioned opportunities and how these interplay with his personal visual style and interests.

Christian Brändle, is a leading figure in photography. He has exhibited several Magnum photographers in Zurich including René Burri, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Steve McCurry and Martin Parr.

Christian Brändle is the Director of Museum of Design, Zurich, a position he has held since 2003. He has a Master of architecture from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. He has been involved in the Kunsthalle Basel and the Opernhaus Zurich, and was the Chief site manager for the exhibition architecture at the Schweizerische Landesausstellung Expo.02, Arteplage Murten. He is the author of several books including 100 Years of Swiss Graphic Design and Head to Head: Political Portraits.
