All That Life Can Afford
Matt Stuart's portrait of London's quirks and quiddities goes on display in Günderothschen Hof
“Buy a good pair of comfortable shoes, have a camera around your neck at all times, keep your elbows in, be patient, optimistic and don’t forget to smile.” – Matt Stuart
Matt Stuart’s All That Life Can Afford features images taken in London between February 2002 & November 2015. As Geoff Dyer noted in his essay for the accompanying book, Stuart manages to stop time with his camera, walking London’s busiest streets and capturing both the nuances and the oddities that define them.
Stuart captures the heart of London, its grittiness and its style. Moreover, his images are infused with humor, one of his signature traits as a photographer, and a trait that begs us to slow down and appreciate what’s in front of us.
