2017 marks the 70th anniversary of artist collective and historic agency, Magnum Photos. Throughout this seventy year history there have been many attempts to define the agency, its members’ vision of photography, its values and its history.
With descriptions wildly varying from ‘an utterly impossible concept’ (John G Morris) to a ‘concept-idea greater than any of its members’ (Elliott Erwitt), this lively discussion chaired by Sean O’Hagan, Photography Critic at the Guardian and the Observer, featuring David Kogan, Executive Director Magnum Photos International, and Magnum photographers Jonas Bendiksen, David Hurn and Olivia Arthur, asks the question, ‘What is Magnum?’ and what is the future of this historic agency?
This event is part of the Magnum Photos Now talks programme at the Barbican Centre.
Tickets can be purchased from the Barbican Centre here.
