The Magnum Annual General Meeting is the agency’s only regular creative meeting of minds – a chance for photographers, estates and international staff to discuss the agency business, discuss the industry at large and review potential new photographers to join our collective.

The 69th Magnum AGM will take place in London between 23rd and 26th June, alongside an exciting and varied public program:

Peter Marlow – A Life in Pictures

Thursday 23rd until Sunday 26th June (free)

Following the sudden and tragic passing of Magnum photographer Peter Marlow in February, Magnum are proud to host a memorial exhibition celebrating his life and work. Curated by Peter’s colleagues and friends in the Magnum membership, the exhibition spans his early work as a photojournalist in Haiti, his seminal photographs from ‘Liverpool: Looking Out to Sea’ and his lifelong commitment to documenting his family.

The event will open into a free public book-signing from 8.00pm with tables hosted by Thames & Hudson and Phaidon. This workshop will help students to develop their personal projects through individual tutorials, mini assignments, experimentation, and group reviews.

Aimed at photographers with an ongoing body of work, this intensive three day masterclass will challenge, guide, and push students to make new responses to their ideas.

Each student will meet with one of the workshop tutors for a personal portfolio review, and following this, the tutor will set an individual assignment, in response to their portfolio. Students will be expected to work through this assignment, coming back together for group reviews and discussions.

Alongside a shooting assignment, students will be set writing and self reflective exercises about ideas making, reflecting on the origins of ideas, and how as artists, one can work with ideas and concepts.

Students should come willing to experiment and to consider new ways of approaching image making and storytelling.

Prior requirements/preparations:
Students should bring works in progress in digital formats, and as prints.
