The biennial Photolux Festival in Lucca, Tuscany, will stage an exhibition of Josef Koudelka’s ongoing project, set within the historical walls of the Palazzo Ducale.

Between 1991 and 2012, Josef Koudelka visited nineteen countries bordering the Mediterranean, stopping at over two hundred Greek and Roman archeological sites.

This was an unprecedented exploration that has not yet been completed. Koudelka keeps visiting archaeological sites in Greece, Turkey, Tunisia, Algeria, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and other Mediterranean countries, searching not for the documentation of the sites, but for the perfect images of their existence.
