Higher Ground, 2017, is the second book in Carl De Keyzer’s two-part fictional project on climate change – which constructs a possible future after major sea-level rises. The first title, Moments Before the Flood, 2012, saw De Keyzer focus on Europe’s as yet intact coastlines, while in Higher Ground he imagined, “A new Europe after the flood,” where, “Europeans migrate to the mountains of Europe and create a new mixed society.”

In this exhibition, at Antwerp’s Red Star Line Museum, 50 images from Higher Ground present this fictional imagining of a future affected by climate change.
