Bruce Davidson Retrospective
A career-spanning retrospective of the American photographer’s work opens in Monschau
Bruce Davidson became a member of Magnum Photos in 1959, when the American was just 26-years-old. Davidson’s work focused on subcultures and lifestyles on the margins of society. His most well-known works include ‘Circus‘, ‘Brooklyn Gang‘ and ‘Subway‘. Today, Davidson is considered a pioneer of social documentary photography. In the 1960s, he photographed the Civil Rights Movement (Time of Change) as well as Harlem as the social hotspot of New York (100th Street). Decades later, he turned to landscapes, most recently until 2013 the Nature of Los Angeles.
This retrospective, showing for the first time in Germany, is the largest overview of his complete works.
