Yolanda Cuomo is the creative director of Yolanda Cuomo Design in Weehawken, New Jersey. Her clients include leading publishers, museums, authors, editors, artists, and photographers, with whom she and her team work to design and create books, exhibitions, and other cultural and commercial projects. Recent projects include: Matt Black’s AMERICAN GEOGRAPHY and AMERICAN ARTIFACTS ; Magnum Photos: America /The United States (Thames & Hudson, 2024); and Gilles Peress’s Whatever You Say, Say Nothing (Steidl, 2021). She has created photobooks and exhibitions for countless others, including Susan Meiselas, Steve McCurry, Pete Souza, Paolo Pellegrin Lou Reed, and Diane Arbus. In 2013 Cuomo was profiled in the film Let’s Make a Book of This (a New Yorker production) and was featured on Time magazine’s LightBox in “Profile of a Curatorial Master: Yolanda Cuomo.”
Cuomo leads courses in design and book-making at New York University. She has lectured at the Yale’s Beinecke Library, Parsons School of Design/The New School, the School of Visual Arts, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and elsewhere. She has taught workshops at the Magnum Foundation, Officine Fotografiche in Rome, the Photographic Center Northwest, the International Center of Photography, and LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph. Cuomo has a BFA from Cooper Union.
