Springtime in China

April 21, 2015
by Patrick Zachmann
Patrick Zachmann went to Szechwan province in order to finish a photo series for a book and exhibition he is preparing on China, a subject he has been documenting during the past 30 years. He took this opportunity to spend time with Chinese friends who guided him during the Chinese New Year in the city of Zi Gong, in villages and around local families.

During this particular period, Chinese people usually get two weeks of holidays and go back once a year to their native villages. Many men and women working in big cities are separated from their children and families for most of the year. The spring festival is the privileged moment when they gather, eat, play majhong, and visit temples and tombs to pay respect to their ancestors.
