The Cherhill White Horse of Wiltshire - from the tail showing the distant head and eye - Cut in 1780 and constructed by Dr Alsop who directed the operation from the London road using a loud hailer. The Horse is 129ft long and 142ft high. The eye was made of bottle bottoms which glinted in the sun. They were vandalised in the 19th century. - David Hurn

Later in Neolithic times stones were transported from Wales and incorporated in a complex of standing sarsen stones from Wiltshire. About 1600-1500 BC, in the Bronze Age, Stonehenge was grandly remodelled with taller uprights and cross-stones. The function of Stonehenge is not known. UK - David Hurn
