Magnum's Poets

March 26, 2013
Since the inception of the collective, Magnum photographers have had both a creative fascination and fraternal admiration for the great poets of the times. Whether it was Henri Cartier-Bresson shooting Ezra Pound, or Bruce Davidson shooting Ginsberg, Kerouac and Corso, it's clear that there exists a certain artistic respect between photographer and poet, possibly born out of a recognition that the two crafts, although disimilar on the surface, aren't all that different -- that the photographer and painter are, in some respect, kindred creative spirits.

On this day in 1874, the great American poet Robert Frost was born, and Magnum celebrates with portraits of some of history's great poets from the archive.
