On this day in 1929, the great American civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. was born. In life, MLK was a non-violent warrior for fairness and freedom, peace and justice, and in death, he's become a symbolic hero for marginalized people everywhere. He most famously proclaimed, "I have a dream," on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963 -- a bold sentiment of hope that still echoes fifty years later.
