About 100 members of Suon Sophorn's Sam Rainsy Party Youth movement (opposition) tried to march from 'Freedom Park' to the Royal Palace to request amnesty for those they consider condemned for political motives in Cambodia, among which they include Sam Rainsy, the opposition party leader living in self-imposed exile in France, but also Yorm Bopha and Tim Sakmony, the Boeung Kak Lake and Borei Keila activists. Suon Sophorn was badly injured by police forces (see here) a little more than one year ago during the destruction of several houses from Boeung Kak Lake. In a show of force before next weeks' ASEAN summit, riot police wearing new protective gear blocked the demonstration for a couple of hours.
