Magnum Photos & Multistory project 'Open for Business' awarded Arts Council funding
November 23, 2012
by London Office
In January 2013, Magnum Photos and Multistory will begin work on an exciting new photographic commission entitled 'Open for Business'.
Multistory, one of the UK's leading community arts agencies located within the borough of Sandwell, has been awarded £329,404 from the Arts Council of England's Strategic Touring Programme 2012-14.
Open for Business will be a landmark project telling the story of modern UK industry. Magnum's acclaimed international photographers will work across the country to document regional success stories which will have national relevancy.
Open for Business will focus on the historic industrial areas in the UK as well as new and innovative industries as we look to the future, seeking out success stories, large and small, that reflect Britain's changing industrial and cultural heritage.
Through partnerships with the UKs leading cultural institutions, the project will tell the story of British manufacturing, capturing the current landscape, good and bad, and its effect on people, community and culture through the unique international perspective of the Magnum photographers.
