Since the beginnings of the medium, "the reflection" has been an aesthetic trope utilized by photographers of all genres and styles. It's the simple magic of it -- the way it toys with our visual perception, turning the simplest of photographs into complex, multidimensional images -- that makes it such an intriguing tool for the artist.

From Erwitt to Soth, Gilden to Stock, the Magnum archive is chockfull of photos that house reflected images somewhere in their frame. So today, The Daily Gallery explores visual reflections: the many ways Magnum photographers have used them and how they can conceptually define a photograph.
