On this day in 1992, the Los Angeles Riots broke out after a group of officers were acquitted of charges of assault and use of excessive force in the arrest of Rodney King. The six days of rioting, looting and arson resulted in 53 deaths, thousands of injuries and over a billion dollars in property damage.
