The Death of FDR

April 10, 2015
by Wayne Miller
70 years ago this Sunday, April 12th, President Franklin D. Roosevelt died while still in office. One of the most influential US Presidents, he was elected a record four times, holding the office for 12 years. In response to the Great Depression, FDR expanded the power of the federal government by introducing the New Deal. He then went on to lead the country during the Second World War.
Wayne Miller was present in Washington, D.C. when Roosevelt's funeral cortege passed by throngs of devastated onlookers, paying respect to the president who had united them during perilous times.
