Access to quality health care is a fundamental right and not a luxury. Each individual should be able to go to a clinic or hospital and get the care and medications they need, regardless of ability to pay. Yet every year worldwide, more than 100 millions people fall into poverty as a result of health expenditure which they can not cope with and hundreds of millions more waive treatment for lack of money.

Every minute, a woman dies from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth for lack of basic medical care. 99% of these deaths occur in developing countries.

Oxfam France and Magnum Photos have collaborated on a photographic project highlighting the difficulties of access to care for millions of people in the South, through the example of Senegal.
