Jeremy Corbyn: Labour's Next Leader?

August 4, 2015

Jeremy Corbyn, MP for Islington North, and a veteran member of the left-wing of the UK Labour Party, has invigorated the leadership contest for Ed Milliband's replacement. Initially viewed as a rank outsider, his ant-austerity approach in promising to protect public services and increase taxes on the wealth has seen his support for his candidacy rise significantly to become the favourite. A vice-chair of Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and a columnist for the Communist newspaper, the Morning Star, Mr Corbyn has frequently been at odds with his party over the past 20 years, opposing the Iraq war and other foreign interventions and backing public ownership of the banks.

Stuart Franklin photographed Jeremy at a leadership rally at the Camden Centre in London, supported by journalist Owen Jones, musician Brian Eno and others.
