Jérôme Sessini documented the harrowing journey of migrants through Europe as they attempt to cross into the passport-free Schengen zone from Serbia.
Most of these migrants are fleeing conflict in their homeland, seeking refuge and the chance of a life away from the devastation of war and unrest. This is Europe’s worst refugee crisis since the second world war and the influx shows no signs of slowing. The majority of those photographed here are from Syria, trying to escape the violence of the Islamic State.
