Ai Weiwei and Anish Kapoor March for Refugees

September 17, 2015
by Chris Steele-Perkins
Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei and British-Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor led a protest march through central London on 17 September to campaign for "human rather than political" responses to the refugee crisis. The artists each carried a tatty, grey blanket as a symbol of the needs of the world's refugees on the 12 km walk, stating that this issue "concerns everybody". Magnum photographer Chris Steele-Perkins followed them on the march.
