Miami Art Photography Workshop: Finding Your Voice
September 28, 2012

View profile
This will be my first workshop in Miami and based completely on your interest in the world of using photography as art. All of my workshops focus on sharing with the students I mentor whatever I am doing at the time. In this way, I am able to give current first hand knowledge back to my students. To help take away the mystery of the world of art.
While I have spent a career doing documentary photography, I have moved aggressively now into the world of galleries, exhibitions and art photography book publishing. I have found no conflict between my interests in documentary with the world of art. It is all in how you think about your work and how you present.
Our Miami workshop will take place at the Abba Art Gallery in the Wynwood Arts District and take place just before Art Basel/Miami giving us the buzz of the art community and giving us a very realistic vision of what art dealers want and collectors will purchase.
A showing of your week of shooting with me will be shown in the art gallery space, both as a slide show for a gathered audience and as prints hanging on the wall. This will be a truly unique experience for all.
Each student accepted into this class will either spend the week editing a pre-existing body of work or shooting new work or a combination of the two.
The goal will be to produce individual icons. Works to be hung. Works to be published in an art book.
Your experience level is not as important as your ability to see and to recognize an indelible image.
Join us for this one of a kind workshop.
