Consignment - August 27th, 1979 / Executions at Sanandaj Airport, Iran.

Jahangir Razmi

Following the exile of Iran's last Shah in early 1979, the nation formed a new Islamic Republic under revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khomeini. Without any delay the new regime continued to reshape the nation along its theological agenda.
On August 27, 1979 after a short show-trial, 11 people charged as being "counterrevolutionary" were executed at Sanandaj Airport. Among the witnesses was a photographer, Jahangir Razmi.
One of his images won the Pulitzer Prize in 1980, but the recipient was known as "anonymous" until 2006 when Mr. Razmi told the Wall Street Journal that he had taken it....
